Woven Throughout the Word of God

From Genesis to Revelation, a Scarlet Thread runs through the entire Word of God.

It is the Thread of Redemption.

It is the blood-red testimony of a covenant-keeping God, woven through generations, promises, sacrifices, prophets, kings, and nations—until its fullness is revealed in Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God.

The Scarlet Thread first appears in the Garden of Eden.

When Adam and Eve sinned, they attempted to cover themselves with fig leaves, but human effort could never adequately cover the consequences of sin. God Himself provided garments of skin for them. Blood was shed, and a covering was given.

This was the first prophetic shadow of redemption.

The Scarlet Thread continued through Abel, whose acceptable sacrifice pointed prophetically towards the necessity of a blood offering.

It flowed through Abraham and Isaac upon Mount Moriah, where God provided a ram caught in the thicket as a substitute sacrifice.

“My son, God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering.”

Genesis 22:8

The Scarlet Thread flowed through the doorposts of Egypt.

On the night of Passover, the blood of the lamb became the dividing line between life and death. God declared:

“When I see the blood, I will pass over you.”

Exodus 12:13

The Scarlet Thread continued through the Tabernacle, the priesthood, the altar, and the sacrificial system. Every lamb, every offering, and every drop of blood prophetically pointed forward to the One perfect and eternal Sacrifice who was yet to come.

Then we see a literal scarlet thread in the story of Rahab.

A scarlet cord hung from her window as a sign of covenant, deliverance, and protection. When judgment came upon Jericho, Rahab and her household were saved.

The Scarlet Thread was hanging from her window!

What a powerful prophetic picture of the Blood of Jesus Christ. The scarlet cord marked the place where mercy would triumph over judgment.

The Thread continued through the prophets.

Isaiah saw Him.

“He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities.”

Isaiah 53:5

David saw Him.

“They pierced My hands and My feet.”

Psalm 22:16

Zechariah saw Him.

“They will look on Me whom they pierced.”

Zechariah 12:10

Generation after generation, prophecy after prophecy, the Scarlet Thread continued to be woven through the pages of Scripture.

Then, in the fullness of time, the Scarlet Thread became visible.

Jesus Christ came.

The Word became flesh.

The Lamb of God walked among humanity.

And upon the Cross of Calvary, the Scarlet Thread of Redemption reached its divine fulfilment.

The hands that created mankind were pierced for mankind.

The feet that walked upon the waters were nailed to a Cross.

The brow of the King of Glory was crowned with thorns.

His side was pierced.

His Blood was poured out.

Not the blood of bulls and goats.

Not another temporary covering.

But the precious, sinless, eternal Blood of Jesus Christ!

“For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.”

Matthew 26:28

The Scarlet Thread did not end at the Cross.

It passed through the empty tomb!

The Blood speaks of redemption, but the Resurrection declares victory.

Jesus Christ conquered sin.

He conquered death.

He conquered the grave.

And the Scarlet Thread continues all the way into the Book of Revelation, where we behold a great multitude standing before the throne of God.

“They washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.”

Revelation 7:14

What an extraordinary Kingdom mystery!

Scarlet Blood makes garments white!

The Blood cleanses.

The Blood redeems.

The Blood reconciles.

The Blood delivers.

The Blood speaks a better word.

The Blood opens the way into the presence of God.

The Blood declares that the price has been paid in full!

From the covering in Eden to the sacrifice of Abel…

From the ram on Mount Moriah to the blood upon the doorposts…

From the scarlet cord of Rahab to the sacrifices of the Tabernacle…

From the words of the prophets to the Cross of Calvary…

From the empty tomb to the Throne Room of Revelation…

There is ONE SCARLET THREAD!

JESUS CHRIST!

He is not merely found in one portion of Scripture.

He is the Living Word woven throughout the entire Word of God.

Every shadow points towards Him.

Every covenant finds its fulfilment in Him.

Every altar whispers His Name.

Every sacrifice anticipates His Blood.

Every prophecy announces His coming.

Every page carries the testimony of Redemption.

The Bible is the greatest story of Redemption ever written, and running through every book, every generation, and every covenant is the unbreakable, eternal Scarlet Thread of the Blood of the Lamb.

Before the foundation of the world, the Lamb was known.

At Calvary, the Lamb was slain.

In Resurrection power, the Lamb conquered.

And upon the Throne, the Lamb reigns forevermore!

“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom, and strength and honor and glory and blessing!”

Revelation 5:12

THE SCARLET THREAD HAS NEVER BEEN BROKEN.

It runs from Eternity…

through Creation…

through Covenant…

through Calvary…

through Resurrection…

and back into Eternity.

His Name is JESUS.

His Blood is the Scarlet Thread.

And His Story is woven throughout the entire Word of God.
